North of Puerto Vallarta, near Sayulita on the scenic North Coast of Banderas Bay lies the Monkey Mountain, the largest hill South of Punta Mita and the area’s largest and most visible landmark. This hike takes us to the top of Monkey Mountain, where we will have a spectacular 360° view of the beaches, coastline, and seemingly endless vistas of the Riviera Nayarit.
We begin our excursion with a one hour semi-shaded uphill hike through the winding jungle trails of Monkey Mountain in the state of Nayarit. On our quest for the summit, we will encounter a great variety of exotic birds, butterflies, iguanas, lizards and tropical trees that are native to the Riviera Nayarit & Puerto Vallarta region. Your bilingual naturalist guide will tell you all about the flora and fauna of the area as well as the natural ecosystem of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco and Nayarit, all while enjoying the true essence of nature as you hike.
Once we reach the summit, we will take a short break and enjoy a beverage and a snack, looking over the magnificent view the mountain provides. Then it’s time to hike back.

- Pick up and drop off from meeting location close to your hotel, villa, condo or residence in the Vallarta area. Vallarta Surf Tours will drive you from the pick-up location North of town to Sayulita region. The driver is also your hiking guide for the day, he will inform you about the Hiking Adventure you are about to embark on. He will also share interesting facts about the local flora and fauna of the Nayarit region, about Banderas Bay and the small towns surrounding Puerto Vallarta. The drive to the Monkey Mountain Hiking Adventure is about an hour and so you will have plenty of time to get to know your hiking guide!
